Rick joined the staff of Fellowship Church in 1997 after eighteen years in the field of youth and family ministries. Rick assumed the role of Lead Pastor of Fellowship Church in 2002. A native East Tennessean, he has served as a campus ministry leader, a youth and family life pastor, a retreat/conference speaker, and as a college and seminary professor in both national and international contexts.

As a part of his tenure in educational leadership, Rick served at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, our denomination’s seminary in the suburbs of Chicago, as Chair of the Department of Educational Ministries. Rick is the author of Shaping the Spiritual Life of Students: A Guide for Youth Workers, Pastors, Teachers & Campus Ministers (IVP) and co-author of Shaping the Journey of Emerging Adults: Life-Giving Rhythms for Spiritual Transformation (IVP).

He is co-editor of Reaching a Generation for Christ: A Comprehensive Guide to Youth Ministry (Moody Press), and a contributor to the Life Application Bible for Students (Tyndale).

Rick is also President and Co-founder of Sequoia Leadership Concepts Youth Development, including the Tennessee Fury, an AAU basketball organization. Rick’s wife, Teresa, is a licensed clinical therapist. They have three children, Jessica, Zachary, and Benjamin.
