We are pleased to announce the Henry Center Public Events for the 2024–25 academic year. In this new and extended workshop format, there will be plenty of time for teaching and discussion. We are also providing lunch at each of these events, which are all free and open to everyone. Join us for this opportunity to learn from leading theologians, biblical scholars, and ministers as we explore Scripture’s testimony about Jesus.
The Gospels in the Life of the Church
Christianity is centered on the person of Jesus. Theology is the prayerful search to know and love him. And while all of Scripture testifies to God’s saving act in the world, the Gospels hold a unique role in the Christian canon as they provide us with four accounts of Jesus of Nazareth, the climax of God’s history and purposes. This year’s Henry Center lectures will explore the significance of the Four Gospels for the life of the church. They give us the story of Jesus, whose life and character are the model for all disciples who confess that he is their Lord, their Messiah. As we look for him through the written word of the Gospels, we encounter the great mystery at the heart of Christianity—God with us. Our hope is that these lectures and workshops will strengthen our faith in the risen Jesus who is revealed to us in these holy texts.
