History and Purpose

…intellectually rigorous, culturally relevant, persuasive in argument, and faithful to historic, evangelical Christianity.

                      History and Purpose

In our increasingly secular and, as Carl Henry used to say, “neopagan” world, young Christians are attacked through a host of intellectual ideas and socio-cultural issues that run against the grain of the Christian faith. In the midst of these challenges, it is vital that our next generation of Christians receive the resources necessary for sustaining and strengthening their faith.

The Christ on Campus Initiative — financed and executed by the Henry Center and also financially supported by the MAC Foundation — has attempted to address this need. The CCI began in 2007 by gathering a small group of campus ministers from around the nation to discuss the needs and questions facing the present generation of students, setting the priority of topics for future topics. An ongoing editorial board, lead by D. A. Carson and Scott Manetsch, continues to commission and circulate literature for students, addressing an array of important intellectual and practical issues from an evangelical Christian perspective. All the essays are intellectually rigorous, culturally relevant, persuasive in argument, and faithful to historic, evangelical Christianity.
