John Woodbridge Conference
On April 28-29, 2006, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School hosted “The Great Commission: Evangelicals and the History of World Mission” in honor or John Woodbridge, Research Professor of Church History and the History of Christian Thought. The speakers addressed historical aspects of evangelical mission from both Western and Majority World perspectives.
“We wanted to host a conference that would edify and encourage Christian leaders,” says Associate Professor of Church History Scott Manetsch, “as well as express our profound gratitude to our colleague and mentor John Woodbridge on the event of his 65th birthday. The conference papers will bear fruit as a book that is both useable and helpful for pastors and seminarians. There is no textbook presently that focuses exclusively upon evangelical Christians’ unique contribution to world mission. This theme also fits well with John’s passion to serve the Church.”
