What is Your Ask?
Attending to Jesus’s words to Philip in John 14:12-14, Dr. Jo Anne Lyon encourages Christians to ask God for greater things. Global realities—100 million street children, 14 million aids orphans, 1 billion people hungry, 1 billion who have not heard the name of Jesus, etc.—can yield discouragement and even inaction. But Jesus promises greater works for his disciples because he has gone to the Father. As a demonstration of these greater things, Dr. Lyon gives a stirring example of Sriman, a Cambodian woman who was rescued from a brothel and whose story touched some of the most powerful people in the world. Dr. Lyon presses, “what is your ask today?”
