The Death of a Church
A Sermon on Revelation 3:1-6
Dr. Philip Griffin reflections on Jesus’s words to a dead church in Revelation 3:1-6, to Sardis. There are no compliments for this church. Griffin draws out four reasons why churches die, conforming to culture, watering down the gospel message, living in the past, and failing to pass the truth onto the next generation. Further, he highlights the five things that our Lord has to say to these churches. The text is a warning and a call to church leaders, a warning to avoid death and decay and a call to listen to Jesus’s voice. He asks church leaders, will we lead well?
